The inaugural Stanley Park Singing Exhibition has come and gone and we couldn't have been more pleased with the results. Everyone's sets were truly spectacular and we can't thank all of you who came out enough. Anyone who has any photos should definitely post them at the fan photos section because we didn't get very many ourselves! Can't wait for next year!

Just wanted to spread the word about some attention being paid to the video for Myriad Harbour, in all its' pseudo-psychedelically animated glory. Last weekend at the 2nd annual Crave Fest in Toronto, Myriad was awarded Best Animated Video. More love for the video comes from Portugal, where Myriad was nominated for Best International Video at the ViMus International Music Video Festival The video has also been selected for screening at various film festivals in the U.S. and abroad. Obviously, if you've yet to see the video, check it out!

Blaine's classic movie, "Male Fantasy" has just been released on DVD and is available at Amazon.com and amazon.ca as well as netflix and zip.ca . With an extremely talented cast, and original music from A.C. Newman and the Sun City Girls, it's well worth checking out. Hello everyone, We regretfully must inform you that we have had to cancel our trip to Europe this coming July due to Personal Reasons. Sorry that sounds generic, but it's sincere. We most definitely do not like having to cancel shows, and were very excited about returning to Europe but the unforeseen circumstances that have arisen just have made it impossible to do so in July. Please rest assured though, that everyone in the band is safe, healthy (Physically and most of the time mentally), and chemically Independent and we hope that you are as well.

Challengers made it onto the 2008 Polaris Prize Long List! The Polaris Long List is comprised of the top 40 full-length Canadian records released from June 1, 2007 to May 31, 2008. The Polaris Jury will now vote from the Long List to determine the 10 album Short List, which will be revealed on July 7. Cross your fingers we make the short list!

We have just accepted an offer to headline at Battery Park on the 4th of July in New York. We figured that America has finally come to their senses and are having Canadians help them celebrate their independence day.

We're starting to ramp up for the release of our new album with some very special shows that are up on our tour dates page. FINALLY we will be coming over to visit all of our friends in the UK and playing 3 small intimate shows in London to showcase some of the new songs, followed up by our first ever appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. Then it's back to the states to take part in the Pitchfork Festival. More news coming soon, looking forward to seeing you all!!

Carl and Blaine will be hosting MTV's Subterranean. The show will air this coming Sunday (Sept. 3rd) at 1AM.

The New Pornographers are among the 10 nominees for the Polaris Music Prize. Comparable to the UK's Mercury Prize, the $20,000 award was created to honour Canada’s best album based on creative quality, irrespective of musical genre or sales figures. The winner is to be announced September 18, 2006.

The New Pornographers have been nominated for a Juno Award in the category of "Best Alternative Album." The awards are taking place in Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 2nd.
